Sunday 6:30 am

3-4 inches of new snow so far this morning. The groomers are setting new tracks and the Pisten bully is out on the main trails

Saturday 6 pm

we had a busy day today and many happy skiers. The new snow groomed up well this morning; we groomed up 64k. We plan to set some or many of the classic tracks in the morning and i am planning on taking out my Pisten Bully to groom the closer combi trails with the powertiller and set tracks. Highlands and tamarack and ridge runner are not quite ready for Crasher w his smaller Pisten Bully.

tamarack 1 track after the new snow

Friday 7 pm

We groomed up 47 km this morning after the new 1 inch of fluff fell. It groomed up well. Reports from classic skiers today were good after they found where the best tracks were. We have a groomer team scheduled for the early morning.

Thursday 6 pm

Light snow falling…We are skiing on 71 km of trails, Pig Heart groomed with Crasher this morning, we groomed 47 km of trails. Mainly the main combi trails and a few connectors . The skate lanes are skiing quite well, we are bypassing 3 of the big hills and using by passes. The classic tracks on the side of the combi trails are now skiing decently. It is an older track with hard well formed sidewalls and has several inches of powder compressed from skier traffic, there are portions where we wiped out the classic track but in general 75-80% of the combi trails have decent (somewhere between good and?). A hard wax works in this condition and temperature. There are some thin areas and some areas with bare spots, mostly due to the conifers and blocking snow and groomers being aggresive … but easy to ski around them.

classic trails have been skiing ok, tamarack close up and jack pine white pine are groomed flat but have decent coverage. Hemlock return, jacksflats, tammarack after\. the cross over is skiing ok, sunset is rated up a notch with its hills.

we closed Wolf tracks, ridge runner and puumala until we get more snow…they are a bit rough with bedrock out croppings and are more hilly.

PIG HEART and CRASHER heading out in the early am to regroom.

Don’t forget to order your lunch from the Suffolk Street Eatery 906-285-7138 Friday for delivery to ABR Ski Trails at noon saturday , this is our lunch box Saturday program…every Saturday until March. We have several local businesses delivering prepaid food to the trailhead at noon on saturdays.

Wednesday 6 pm

We were excited to wake up to an 1 inch of new snow!….Lake effect non forecasted snow, but we will take every flake.

Pig Heart and Crasher groomed up 41 km of skate lanes on the main trails…tracks are still old but ok. The ski surfaces groomed up very nicely and are pretty good, there is some debris where the conifers shelter the trails, and where the snow plowers scrape the thin base down on the big hills, but I am very surprised when chatting with the skiers at the end of the day on how they are enjoying the trails.

2 cabin cancels on Balsam and Hemlock for the weekend…they are available for the weekend.
